I have seen people asking for support of these models from Chinese AI Labs:

Minimax M1: https://github.com/ollama/ollama/issues/11116
Bagel: https://github.com/ollama/ollama/issues/10888
GLM: https://github.com/ollama/ollama/issues/10269
Kimi: https://github.com/ollama/ollama/issues/10428
Hunyuan: https://github.com/ollama/ollama/issues/11239

But none of them are supported on Ollama. While for some other models, you can pull from Ollama the very next day.

And all these models seem to have GGUF versions available.

What is happening here? I don't want to believe Chinese models are deliberately blocked by Ollama, but I find it hard not to.

Supporting new architectures requires time and expertise and the ollama team is small. If you want to use a model for which architecture support is not available, please write a supporting PR and submit it here.

In some cases the architecture is supported but not in the ollama library. You can import such models as described here.

@RealHacker I hate to say but don't behave like your country's ministry of foreign affair. Ollama is open for contribution. Just submit the change if you want to advocate those models.

You submit requests, and no one cares. What should you do? Just submit more requests.
Very constructive advice. Thanks a lot.

You received a response, so "no one cares" is inaccurate.

I guess what @kingkingyyk want to say is, if you want to make that happen in open source community, u could just finish the code and submit ...

... and also, you don't have to behave like if your country was the victim of a conspiracy or of a plot or of a discrimination. It's very annoying to read chinese nationals complaining and whining like that all over github in english language or in chinese language. This is international community. Everybody is welcome without discrimination.

At least, you did the effort to express yourself in the de-facto international language that is english, and i thank you for that effort. (which is an effort some chinese nationals don't even bother to do despite they have access to google translate)

@SuperUserNameMan also there already are chinese models in ollama like deepseek, contradicting the claim that there is a conspiracy

@adonishong Correct. Let's recall the zero day support of Gemma 3, Gemma team actually worked with Ollama team to make it happen. Although it wasn't prefect, but we saw the effort.

@SuperUserNameMan Yes, it is annoying. Made me wonder if that guy is cybertrooper paid by government to get attention. 🤮

Guys, I am simply stating what I see: except for Deepseek and Qwen, all the models from Chinese labs (there are many) are not included in the Ollama library.

If there is a required process (the lab needs to reach out and work with Ollama team) for Ollama to support it, just say so.

Don't presume other people's motives, and don't label other people; don't use the wokeism terms like 'conspiracy,' 'discrimination,' 'cybertrooper,' and 'nationalist' as weapons. That is disgusting.

Thats just how open source projects work. You want something to be included? Feel free to add it and provide it to the public with a pull requests

except for Deepseek and Qwen

There are more models from Chinese labs in the library than these two. Maybe do some research before posting inaccuracies.

From your original post:

I don't want to believe Chinese models are deliberately blocked by Ollama, but I find it hard not to.

You have the option of apologizing for impugning the motives of people who provide you with an unencumbered inference engine and terabytes of models to experiment with, or you can double down.

wokeism terms

That makes no sense.

nationalist

No one used that word.

If you refer to "chinese nationals", the meaning is : "a person who holds nationality of the People's Republic of China".

Don't presume other people's motives,

You did that yourself first when you wrote : "I don't want to believe Chinese models are deliberately blocked by Ollama, but I find it hard not to."

Again, this is international community.
Everyone is welcome.

Also, regarding the reason why all chinese lab's models are not immediately included, and regarding how to solve this, as user rick-github stated : "Supporting new architectures requires time and expertise and the ollama team is small. If you want to use a model for which architecture support is not available, please write a supporting PR and submit it here."

You call it 'impugning the motives of people,' I call it reasonable doubt when there is a statistical anomaly. So no, I will not apologize.

Again, this is international community.
Everyone is welcome.

Yeah. I felt welcome. I believe every 'Chinese national' will be touched by your heartwarming remarks:

It's very annoying to read chinese nationals complaining and whining like that all over github in english language or in chinese language.

You might as well curse. I will at least respect you for not being hypocritical.

I will not respond any more; it's a complete waste of time.

I've just had a long conversation with QWQ and some other models to evaluate the (un)fairness of my harsh reactions in this discussion.

I admit that mentioning that "some chinese nationals whine and complain all over github about imaginary discrimination while some of them don't even bother to do that in english" was out of topic and stigmatizing. I crossed the line. Using your specific case to express my irritation against a recurring behavior of some archetypal random users and targeting specifically the chinese nationals was totally inappropriate. I apologize to those of them who felt unfairly targeted.

Regarding your presumption of discrimination against models from chinese's labs, even if i think this is a totally unfounded and unfair prejudice, and that it shows your own bias regarding the mentality of Ollama's team and community, this was none of my concern. I should not even have participated to this conversation.

Pot calling kettle black, huh?

Well then, is it fair to label the contributors as such? You could have given bounty for someone to implement if you can't do it yourself. All users will be happy to get new models. 😊

Hi, we all work with computers, and when discussing computer technology-related matters, I think perhaps we can be like computers—without bringing in attacks based on nationality, region, hatred, or other aggressive remarks. I read the above discussion through translation, and it did make me a little sad. What saddens me is that we are not politicians; we shouldn’t be hurting each other. No one can fully represent a country, a region, a community, or even a team—we only represent ourselves. Sorry, my English isn’t very good.
