Verified feature request does not already exist?

  • I have searched and found no existing issue

💻

  • Would you like to implement this feature?

Pitch: what problem are you trying to solve?

I am trying to cut down on the number of main category groups by requesting that the categories have sub categories. With this you could set a main category group and have nesting sub categories.

This would allow for a cleaner interface and not need to have 100+ category groups that a good chunk of them are related in some way. Bills could be that as a group with Home, Utilities, Subscriptions, Loans, etc. and then you could split Home into subcategories of Mortgage, Insurance, and HOA with Utilities broken down into subcategories of water, power, gas, etc.

This would be extremely helpful with gift giving/party celebrations. You could have a main Category group of Celebrations broken down into the major Events and then further broken down into items needed for the event.

Describe your ideal solution to this problem

Example

  • Celebrations
    • Christmas
      • Mom Christmas
        • Item 1
        • Item 2
      • Dad Christmas
        • Item 1
        • Item 2
      • Kid Christmas
        • Item 1
        • Item 2
    • Kid Birthday
      • Location
      • Decorations
      • Presents
        • Item 1
        • Item 2

Teaching and learning

This would be pretty self explanatory where The Category group would have add category in the options drop down and then each row would have its own option in the dropdown to add a subcategory.
