Pitch: what problem are you trying to solve?

While it is possible to filter for individual accounts in the "All Accounts" view, I think it would be a great feature to be able to create custom groupings of "on-budget" accounts in the left sidebar.
This may not matter for a few accounts, where the "All Accounts" view is fine, for those of us with many accounts, or joint and individual accounts, a filter is required to see only the accounts together I'd like to see. It would be more streamlined to be able to group accounts in the left column either by who uses it (applying a filter with a name in the account title), by type of account (all checking, savings, credit cards, etc...), or any other method of filtering/grouping accounts.

Describe your ideal solution to this problem

I think the best option would be similar to the "All Accounts" category. There could be a dropdown button under a "custom view" category that would enable you to filter all accounts by the normal filter options and save that view to the left hand side. It would essentially be an extension of the filter saving system in place now, with the ability to save these views to the left side for faster switching (a user wouldn't have to change the filters, or would be able to apply other filters to the account groupings). Or there could be an option in the saved filters menu to "pin" filtered accounts to the left hand accounts list, for greater ease of use.

Teaching and learning

I'd add the required documentation to either the filters or account sections, and maybe have a "tool-tip" present near the accounts grouping drop down so users know they can add custom groups or saved filtered account information to the left hand column.
