Verified feature request does not already exist?

  • I have searched and found no existing issue

💻

  • Would you like to implement this feature?

Pitch: what problem are you trying to solve?

(I saw this mentioned in an update from +-2021 – that the app could possibly expand to allow other budgeting styles, but I could not find any active thread about it.)

Besides budget planning, I would really like to see at a glance how much we have earned and spent. I think it's an important, distinct use case: one activity within budgeting app is to to plan and oversee the budget categories, but at other times, I want to quickly compare my sources income over the months, or how much I spend on takeout, and it would be really nice to hide all the other data while doing so (especially when comparing multiple months, the amount of columns with numbers gets a little overwhelming).

Describe your ideal solution to this problem

Ideal solution would be one button that switches to a expense-income view mode, or a toggle (show/hide) for individual sections.

  • the top monthly overview section could have an alternative view where it changes from "Available funds, Overspent, etc." to "Received, Spent, Balance"
  • the categories could be toggled, so "Budgeted" and maybe even "Balance" columns could be hidden

Teaching and learning

I think this on its own would be great for marketing the app, as a flexible option for attracting more people.
