I use Immich and they do a simple popup when there is a new version and offering a link to the latest version on github to review any change logs.
I would love to see something like that for pangolin, but also including any updates to gerbil and maybe traefik, as I missed a couple of the last updates, but had been in the dashboard several times.
Also I'm not sure if it would be possible to implement a version check to a connected Newt install considering it's not installed via APT and wouldn't be updated via the normal way. Similar to how twingate does it on their dashboard letting you know if you needed to do an update.
