  • I have searched for any existing and/or related issues.
  • I have searched for any existing and/or related discussions.
  • I have also searched in the CLOSED issues AND CLOSED discussions and found no related items (your issue might already be addressed on the development branch!).
  • I am using the latest version of Open WebUI.

Installation Method

Git Clone

Open WebUI Version

0.9.4

Ollama Version (if applicable)

No response

Operating System

Thaoe 26.4

Confirmation

  • I have read and followed all instructions in README.md.
  • I am using the latest version of both Open WebUI and Ollama.
  • I have included the browser console logs.
  • I have included the Docker container logs.
  • I have provided every relevant configuration, setting, and environment variable used in my setup.
  • I have clearly listed every relevant configuration, custom setting, environment variable, and command-line option that influences my setup (such as Docker Compose overrides, .env values, browser settings, authentication configurations, etc).
  • I have documented step-by-step reproduction instructions that are precise, sequential, and leave nothing to interpretation. My steps:
  • Start with the initial platform/version/OS and dependencies used,
  • Specify exact install/launch/configure commands,
  • List URLs visited, user input (incl. example values/emails/passwords if needed),
  • Describe all options and toggles enabled or changed,
  • Include any files or environmental changes,
  • Identify the expected and actual result at each stage,
  • Ensure any reasonably skilled user can follow and hit the same issue.

Expected Behavior

When clicking on the sidenav button the sidenav panel should display correctly on screen on smartphone width

Actual Behavior

When clicking on the sidenav button an overlay is showing and the sidenav panel is croped to the left side of the browser

Steps to Reproduce

  1. start app
  2. make sure your app is max 645px width
  3. click on sidenav button to toggle the sidenav panel
  4. play with the width from their to smaller (like take Iphone width for example)
  5. The sidenave is cropped by the left side of the browser

I found some existing issues that might be related. Please check if any of these are duplicates or contain helpful solutions:

  1. 🟣 #2840 Inability to access sidebar menu or message field on mobile device after recent redesign
This reports a mobile sidebar/header usability regression on Android after a redesign, where the menu/sidebar access becomes broken or inaccessible on mobile. It is closely related to a smartphone sidebar rendering/opening problem.

  2. 🟣 #2860 bug: Side Panel Stays Open on Mobile After Selecting "Workspace"
This is specifically about the mobile side panel behavior and how it stays open/obstructs the workspace. While the exact symptom differs, it concerns the same mobile sidebar/side panel UI flow.

  3. 🟣 #1578 **feat: mobile sidebar swipe to open **
This feature request is about mobile sidebar open/close interaction on phones. It is related to the same mobile sidebar mechanism, though it is about gestures rather than the cropping bug.
