I have read and followed all instructions in README.md.
I am using the latest version of both Open WebUI and Ollama.
I have included the browser console logs.
I have included the Docker container logs.
I have provided every relevant configuration, setting, and environment variable used in my setup.
I have clearly listed every relevant configuration, custom setting, environment variable, and command-line option that influences my setup (such as Docker Compose overrides, .env values, browser settings, authentication configurations, etc).
I have documented step-by-step reproduction instructions that are precise, sequential, and leave nothing to interpretation. My steps:
Start with the initial platform/version/OS and dependencies used,
Specify exact install/launch/configure commands,
List URLs visited, user input (incl. example values/emails/passwords if needed),
Describe all options and toggles enabled or changed,
Include any files or environmental changes,
Identify the expected and actual result at each stage,
Ensure any reasonably skilled user can follow and hit the same issue.
Expected Behavior
When opening Open WebUI in a mobile browser (Android Chrome or iOS Safari), I expect the “New Chat” button (the square icon with the pen) to be visible in the top right corner, as it was in the previous version. This allows users to quickly start a new chat at any time.
Actual Behavior
In the current version, the “New Chat” icon is no longer present in the top right corner on mobile devices. Users now need to tap the hamburger menu in the top left corner and then manually select “New Chat” from the sidebar menu. This is more cumbersome, especially for casual users who don’t know that each new topic should start in a new chat. Many end up writing everything in the same chat.
This change significantly worsens usability on mobile and introduces unnecessary complexity.
Steps to Reproduce
1. Open Open WebUI in Chrome on Android or Safari on iOS.
2. Log in and view the main chat interface.
3. Observe the top right corner – the “New Chat” icon is missing.
4. To start a new chat, the user must tap the menu (three bars) in the top left and then select “New Chat”.

Additional Information
I strongly recommend restoring the “New Chat” icon in the top right corner on mobile devices. Ideally, this button should not only include the icon, but also have the full label “New Chat” next to it.
Modern smartphones have more than enough screen space to accommodate both. This would make the UI more intuitive and encourage users to create separate chats for separate topics.
Thank you very much for your hard work on Open WebUI – I really appreciate it and hope this small but impactful issue can be resolved soon.

Intended behaviour, may revisit this design decision but both chatgpt mobile and claude has the same behaviour.
