Check Existing Issues

  • I have searched the existing issues and discussions.
  • I am using the latest version of Open WebUI.

Installation Method

Docker

Open WebUI Version

v0.6.13 - but likely also present in versions after v0.6.9

Ollama Version (if applicable)

No response

Operating System

Ubuntu 22.04

Browser (if applicable)

No response

Confirmation

  • I have read and followed all instructions in README.md.
  • I am using the latest version of both Open WebUI and Ollama.
  • I have included the browser console logs.
  • I have included the Docker container logs.
  • I have provided every relevant configuration, setting, and environment variable used in my setup.
  • I have clearly listed every relevant configuration, custom setting, environment variable, and command-line option that influences my setup (such as Docker Compose overrides, .env values, browser settings, authentication configurations, etc).
  • I have documented step-by-step reproduction instructions that are precise, sequential, and leave nothing to interpretation. My steps:
  • Start with the initial platform/version/OS and dependencies used,
  • Specify exact install/launch/configure commands,
  • List URLs visited, user input (incl. example values/emails/passwords if needed),
  • Describe all options and toggles enabled or changed,
  • Include any files or environmental changes,
  • Identify the expected and actual result at each stage,
  • Ensure any reasonably skilled user can follow and hit the same issue.

Expected Behavior

SSO login request (Azure) passes through

Actual Behavior

Forward to localhost:3000

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Upgrade of docker container to :latest
  2. I have a weekly CRON that does the rm / restart of the container to :latest. That's how I got to v0.6.13
  3. Users were complaining seeing localhost:3000 instead of the web URL I had configured.
  4. Docker logs did not show any error. It seems to be internal behavior unique to v0.6.13. This did not happen with v0.6.9 I had previously. This issue after pulling :latest is likely to affect MANY users.

Note I had $VERSION=latest before, which caused this issue. With 0.6.9 it seems to work.

export VERSION=0.6.9

#pull latest
docker pull ghcr.io/open-webui/open-webui:$VERSION

docker run -d -p 5173:8080 --add-host=host.docker.internal:host-gateway -v open-webui:/app/backend/data --name open-webui
-e WEBUI_NAME="Private GPT"
-e ENABLE_LOGIN_FORM=false
-e DEFAULT_USER_ROLE=user
-e DISABLE_VERSION_CHECK=true
-e ENABLE_OAUTH_SIGNUP=true
-e BASE_URL="obfuscated"
-e MICROSOFT_REDIRECT_URI="https://obfuscated/oauth/microsoft/callback"
-e MICROSOFT_CLIENT_ID=obfuscated
-e MICROSOFT_CLIENT_SECRET=obfuscated
-e MICROSOFT_CLIENT_TENANT_ID=obfuscated
--restart always ghcr.io/open-webui/open-webui:$VERSION

ok, finally found it. If you don't want to dig like I did, the URL must be configured in admin / settings / interface...
It seems it can't be done in a ENV variable...

You need to explicitly specify WEBUI_URL in the .env file.

I too had this same issue with Google OAuth. Passing WEBUI_URL as an environmental variable did not work., it still defaulted to localhost:3000. I had to downgrade to v0.6.10, go into Admin Panel, Settings, General and set the WebUI URL there (as @MHugonKaliop suggested) before it would work.

I sincerely apologize. I double-checked my environment.
I’m using docker-compose.yaml to start the application, and both WEBUI_URL and GOOGLE_REDIRECT_URI are set under the environment section of the open-webui service.
With these settings, Google OAuth is working correctly in my environment.

Guys, WEBUI_URL is a persistent config, you cannot change it from environement variables, unless you disable persistent config temporarily - otherwise you can always change the WEBUI URL from the admin panel.
