It would be nice to be able to have more control over web search:

  • configuring multiple web search engines, similar to having multiple models downloaded. I can simultaneously run Gemma and Llama and Falcon and Phi - I should be able to select between brave and bing and google and yahoo...
  • adding group access control to web search, similar to group access control for models. Maybe two or three users are allowed to use search while the rest can't ... or they have to cut'n'paste from google. Same as some user groups could run coder, or vision, or uncensored models as the admin deems appropriate.
  • users could individually specify their own search engines, subject to server policy. perhaps a site is happy to let Alice, Bob, Carol, and Dave all use whichever of the predefined search engines they want to - as long as they bring their own API keys. And if I'm not willing to pay for a shared API key for all my users to use, I see no reason why Bob should be able to use up Alice's search quota.
