Check Existing Issues

  • I have searched the existing issues and discussions.
  • I am using the latest version of Open WebUI.

Installation Method

Docker

Open WebUI Version

v0.6.14 (although, this issue has been present for MANY Open WebUI versions and gone unreported by anyone else)

Ollama Version (if applicable)

v0.9.0

Operating System

Edition: Windows 11 Pro | Version: 24H2 | OS Build: 26100.4351 | Windows Feature Experience Pack: 1000.26100.107.0

Browser (if applicable)

LibreWolf v135.0.1-1 (FireFox)

Confirmation

  • I have read and followed all instructions in README.md.
  • I am using the latest version of both Open WebUI and Ollama.
  • I have included the browser console logs.
  • I have included the Docker container logs.
  • I have provided every relevant configuration, setting, and environment variable used in my setup.
  • I have clearly listed every relevant configuration, custom setting, environment variable, and command-line option that influences my setup (such as Docker Compose overrides, .env values, browser settings, authentication configurations, etc).
  • I have documented step-by-step reproduction instructions that are precise, sequential, and leave nothing to interpretation. My steps:
  • Start with the initial platform/version/OS and dependencies used,
  • Specify exact install/launch/configure commands,
  • List URLs visited, user input (incl. example values/emails/passwords if needed),
  • Describe all options and toggles enabled or changed,
  • Include any files or environmental changes,
  • Identify the expected and actual result at each stage,
  • Ensure any reasonably skilled user can follow and hit the same issue.

Expected Behavior

I expect for the "Her" theme to remain a light mode theme.

Actual Behavior

The theme swaps to a dark mode theme upon logging out and logging back into my Open WebUI account.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Log in to your Open WebUI account.
  2. Navigate to Settings > General.
  3. Set the Theme to Her.
    • Observe: The Open WebUI interface immediately changes to a light (white) theme.
  4. Log out of your Open WebUI account.
    • Observe: The logout screen or subsequent login page immediately displays in dark mode.
  5. Log back into your Open WebUI account.
    • Observe: The Open WebUI interface remains in dark mode, despite the Her theme still being selected in settings.

Additional Information

I've created this bug report because I'm almost certain that nobody has cared to report this as a bug (maybe no one noticed?); So I'm taking the initiative to do so now.
