Description

  • Fixes massive console stack trace log spam when missing avatars or deleted files are requested via GET /files/{id}/content and successfully throw a 404.

Added

  • Added explicit exception handler for HTTPException in open_webui/routers/files.py:get_file_content_by_id and get_html_file_content_by_id.

Fixed

  • Prevented normal robust 404 file skips from triggering a massive Python traceback stack dump in backend logs due to a generic catch-all exception block catching HTTPException indiscriminately.

Additional Information

  • Context: When attempting to GET /files/{id}/content for deleted or invalid files/avatars, open_webui/routers/files.py intentionally returns a 404 HTTPException(). However, the generic except Exception as e: block indiscriminately intercepted all exceptions blindly at the outer scope of the backend api function, logged an error log string blindly, and then dumped a massive Python execution traceback into the stdout console for simple expected 404 file skips. This PR adds an explicit except HTTPException as e: raise e prior to the generalized fallback loop, silencing lines of log spam.
