I have searched for all existing open AND closed issues and discussions for similar requests. I have found none that is comparable to my request.
Verify Feature Scope
I have read through and understood the scope definition for feature requests in the Issues section. I believe my feature request meets the definition and belongs in the Issues section instead of the Discussions.
Problem Description
I’m using OpenWebUI version 7.2 and I’m experiencing inconsistent behavior with the Memory feature.
Here’s what I have enabled:
✅ Memory function (Tools) on the main model page
✅ Memory tool inside the chat
✅ Memory enabled in my user customization menu
✅ Tools → Memory enabled in Chat Settings under Valves
However, I’ve noticed that:
The Tools → Memory toggle under Valves often becomes disabled again later
In new chats, the model very often says it does not have access to previous conversation memory
Occasionally, it does work as expected
So the behavior is inconsistent.
Has anyone experienced something similar?
Are there additional configuration steps required to ensure Memory is always available in new chats?
Thanks in advance!
