Changelog Entry

Description

  • This pull request primarily refactors the search functionality within the SettingsModal.svelte component. The keywords associated with each settings tab have been significantly expanded and made somewhat more normalized, allowing for a much more accurate and user-friendly search experience. Users can now find relevant settings more easily using various search terms, including multi-word phrases. Additionally, the "Admin Settings" button has been moved to a static, always-visible position for administrators at the bottom of the sidebar, improving accessibility.

Added

  • Numerous new search keywords for General, Interface, Connections, Tools, Personalization, Audio, Chats, Account, and About settings tabs to improve search precision and coverage.

Fixed

  • The comprehensive update to keywords directly addresses and fixes issues where users might struggle to find specific settings due to limited or non-existent keywords. This greatly improves the discoverability of settings.

Changed

  • The keywords array for each SettingsTab in the searchData constant has been greatly expanded to include a wider range of relevant search keywords across all settings categories, making the settings search more robust and intuitive. Keywords are now more detailed and include multi-word phrases to improve search accuracy.
  • The display logic for the "Admin Settings" button has been refactored; it is now rendered outside the dynamic search-filtered tabs and placed statically at the bottom of the settings sidebar, always visible to administrators.
  • Added md:min-h-[32rem] and md:max-h-[32rem] Tailwind CSS classes to the settings-tabs-container for better height management on medium and larger screens.

Removed

  • The 'admin' entry and its associated keywords from the searchData array, as its display logic has been refactored to a static button.

Additional Information

  • This change addresses the need for more robust and user-friendly search capabilities within the settings modal, making it easier for users to locate specific configurations without extensive browsing.
  • The static placement of the "Admin Settings" button ensures it is readily available for administrators, regardless of the search query.

Screenshots or Videos

I got the inspiration for the idea from Windows 11 Task Manager, ironically. It suddenly feels more natural and fitting for the Admin Settings to be a section in the user settings modal too.
