Check Existing Issues

  • I have searched the existing issues and discussions.
  • I am using the latest version of Open WebUI.

Installation Method

Docker

Open WebUI Version

0.6.0 (but happened with all previous ones too)

Ollama Version (if applicable)

Not relevant, this is about audio recording for transcription (before the AI is even called). I use it mostly with GPT

Operating System

Ubuntu 24.04

Browser (if applicable)

Various versions (up to date)

Confirmation

  • I have read and followed all instructions in README.md.
  • I am using the latest version of both Open WebUI and Ollama.
  • I have included the browser console logs.
  • I have included the Docker container logs.
  • I have listed steps to reproduce the bug in detail.

Expected Behavior

When you press record and the bar with the little strips starts running, for audio to be recorded

Actual Behavior

Audio is only actually being recorded after roughly 1 second. Tried this on Firefox, Chrome, on desktop (Linux and Windows) and mobile (Android, I don't have iOS). You can see this also because the 'strips' don't show any waveform. But it's confusing and it often leads me to miss the first few words.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Click on the "Record voice" microphone icon
  2. Start speaking
  3. The strips bar starts running but only starts showing audio waveforms after about 1 second even though you were already speaking

Logs & Screenshots

There are no relevant logs though I could make a video if you like. But I assume the issue is a known one.

Additional Information

I assume this is already a known issue but I couldn't find anything about it here searching for audio delays.
