Problem Description

Currently, there is no way to tell if a new message has arrived in a channel unless the user manually checks each one. This makes it easy to miss important updates, especially in team environments where channels like #support and #updates are critical for day-to-day communication.

Without visual or audio cues:

  • Users must frequently check each channel manually.
  • Important time-sensitive messages (e.g., alerts or requests) can go unnoticed.
  • Real-time collaboration is less effective, especially when multitasking.

Desired Solution you'd like

Feature Request
We’d like to request a notification feature for channels, similar to Slack, that includes:

  • 🔴 A red notification indicator (badge/dot) next to any channel name that has unread messages.
  • 🔊 An optional sound notification when new messages are received in a followed or active channel.

This would help users stay aware of new messages without constantly switching views.

Why It’s Valuable

  • Improves response time to critical messages.
  • Makes channel monitoring more user-friendly and efficient.
  • Helps users prioritize attention across channels.
