Check Existing Issues

  • I have searched the existing issues and discussions.
  • I am using the latest version of Open WebUI.

Installation Method

Docker

Open WebUI Version

v0.6.10

Ollama Version (if applicable)

0.6.8

Operating System

Ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS

Browser (if applicable)

No response

Confirmation

  • I have read and followed all instructions in README.md.
  • I am using the latest version of both Open WebUI and Ollama.
  • I have included the browser console logs.
  • I have included the Docker container logs.
  • I have listed steps to reproduce the bug in detail.

Expected Behavior

Connections and models remain available or repair after connectivity losses

Actual Behavior

My OpenWebUI host has consistent connectivity to a backend server running Ollama. The connection has a name/prefix for its models which appear and function as expected.
Roughly once every couple of days, I notice that the connection and models are no longer available. When I check the admin page I am able to verify that the server is still accessible, and upon refresh the models appear again.

What I suspect may be happening is that minor connection glitches cause OpenWebUI to disconnect from the server, rendering its models unavailable. Assuming these connection errors are occurring, the connection is never re-established, leaving the models inaccessible until manual intervention. This is my going theory, I haven't been able to verify that this has been happening yet and am looking for ways to narrow down what may be causing the problems.

Steps to Reproduce

I am attempting periodic logging to identify reproduction steps but don't have concrete steps yet, only theories.

Logs & Screenshots

Additional Information

This is less of a "bug" report and more of a suspected issue, I used the most applicable template I could find, thank you for any input.

System Details:

  • Ollama Server: MacOS, latest updates running on a home network
  • OpenWebUI: Latest docker version running on dedicated server in a data center
  • Networking: Wireguard between servers. Docker container configured to be able to access the host's network interfaces.
  • Under normal operation OpenWebUI can see/manage the ollama server, initiate downloads, request completions etc
