What is the issue?

... ???

For now using environment variable:

OLLAMA_MODELS

OH BY THE WAY. Moving AI Models don't work right now ?!

ollama list shows nothing ?!

WTF ?!

I need to move my AI Models to a different drive than C: to be able to clone C: and use it as a VM because AI models are attackable and becoming dangerous a threat !

So need to keep C: as small as possible.

I am considering moving AI Models to VHDX and re-use inside virtual machines as extra attached drive.

Pls make moving AI models work !

Also pls take note: biggest SSD is 4 to 8 TB that is not a lot !

Relevant log output

OS

No response

GPU

No response

CPU

No response

Ollama version

No response

There was some other files in the .ollama folder making me believe .ollama folders just had to be moved and ollama would automatically use subfolder \models but that was not the case, instead it would just create new blobs and manifest folders empty making it even more confusing.

The solution:

H:\Ollama Models\models

Instead of wrong:

H:\Ollama Models\

I set enviroment variable and the option in the ollama gui. I think the ollama gui option takes precedence, so maybe environment variable can be deleted again. I will try that too.

Working. enviroment variable can be deleted.

STILL AN ISSUE.

OLLAMA SERVE, FUNCTIONS DIFFERENTLY THAN OLLAMA GUI...
AND OLLAMA SERVER NEEDS THE ENVIRONMENT VARIABLE ?!
AND APPERENTLY IT MUST POINT THE SUBFOLDER OF \MODELS ?!
BUT OK, THIS IS ALSO THE SETTING IN THE GUI... GJEZ.

Please, can anyone explain this in simple terms?

I have my Models set to an external drive folder.

Everytime I restart my Computer it is defaulting to the base config and won’t let me change the models folder.

Hi this issue is still a thing in 0.22.0 right?
When I configure model location in GUI and in environment variables, they are still mismatched
