What is the issue?

Today I restarted my computer and my Ollama software had been updated. I didn't want this to happen. It happened automatically and without my consent. I didn't want this software to download and run new code (that I had never reviewed), but that's what happened.

This is a security vulnerability, as anyone who can serve updated versions to my computer can run whatever software they want on my computer without my having a chance to review it or object. It's automatic remote code execution.

Please disable automatic updating, and give the user the option to turn it on if they want it. Right now, there doesn't appear to be any way to turn it off.

Relevant log output

OS

macOS

GPU

No response

CPU

No response

Ollama version

0.10.1

As a workaround, you might consider running Ollama as a container. Every version has its unique tag, so unless you specify latest, you will stick to a certain version until you actively decide to use another image version.
