This issue stems from #9199. I’ve created a new thread as the discussion now extends beyond the original topic.

This sets a dangerous precedent.

This model differs from uncensored models like llama2-uncensored or more models from that. It is explicitly trained to oppose the CCP, and they’ve proudly advertised this “feature” in their blog, now mirrored on r1-1776’s Ollama page.

Even more absurd is the model’s self-proclaimed “unbiased,” “factual,” and “accurate” branding. Did they publish their training data to prove this? I can only see more biases from the attitude in their words.

Today we allow models targeting the CCP, tomorrow somebody may also bring models attacking LGBTQ+ communities, Jewish people, or promoting fascism.

People do hold diverse opinions and stances. But injecting politics into open-source communities will TEAR THE COMMUNITY APART. Look no further than the Notepad++ controversy and Notepad-- as cautionary tales.

People are already starting to attacking each other in our GitHub issues, r1-1776’s Hugging Face discussions, and will likely spread further.

As an open-source community, we should be respect everyone. No one should feel attacked—at least, we should try to be like that. There’s an old Chinese saying: 君子和而不同. Wise people collaborate for the greater good without demanding uniformity. We’re not marrying each other, are we?

Most models are already politically bias in one way or another, trying to police this would leave no models available. Unless of course the idea is only to silence one side so only specific views are welcome and that isn't exactly keeping politics out...

Besides its not really up to ollama providing an interface to tell users what they are and are not allowed to use it for.

If you do not like the model, do not use the model.

It's not ollamas place to censor models. If you don't like it, don't use it, alternatives are available.

Reopening the issue to let the maintainers make the final decision regarding any inclusion or removal of the model into the official library. I'm sure they have an attitude.

Absolutely ridiculous. Because you find something disagreeable you are comparing it to one of the most extremely political models ever created, that was trained entirely on 4chan posts, that is nonsense. This is right up there with calling someone a nazi because you disagree with them.

You, right now are being toxic to the community by pushing for the removal of something you do not entirely agree with.

This is not an issue really, rather simply the fact you cannot stand to see something exist that doesn't align to your political views and THAT is exactly the type of politically obsessive behavior that is currently slowly destroying the open source community. (Along with every other community it worms its way into)

Again if you do not like the model, do not use the model. You do not have to make it your personal mission to have it removed.

If you don't want to use a model that gives factual information about what happened 1989 in China, use another model and move on, it really is that simple.
