Ollama is a big software ( almost 1GB ) , when windows is on a limited internet connection ( I dont know if same option is available on other OSs) , do not update , or at least prompt for updating.

I support this issue. I have 3 computers with Ollama on the network, and they all start downloading updates simultaneously, which heavily impacts the traffic. I would like to have the option to download and install updates manually only when there are truly important changes.

+1, now ollama is a very big.
so, please reduce release frequency. and give some setting to choose release channel.

I too support this - I use a mobile connection, and Ollama eats it all up whenever I start it - an option to defer or disable updates is sorely needed.

To prevent updates, remove ollama_app.exe from the startup list. Then, simply launch Ollama manually by running the ollama serve command in the console after your operating system starts.
