Dear Ollama team,

I would like to suggest the development of an official Android application to make Ollama more accessible in everyday mobile use.

Such an app could offer a simple and intuitive way to interact with both local and cloud-hosted open-source models, without complex setup.

Providing a smooth transition between local execution and cloud usage, while maintaining strong transparency and privacy guarantees, would make Ollama a compelling alternative to solutions like ChatGPT. Integrating your plans directly into the app would also allow users to scale their usage effortlessly.

Beyond mobile, Android is increasingly evolving toward a broader operating system experience that extends to PCs. Anticipating this shift would be highly strategic, positioning Ollama early in an ecosystem that may soon span both mobile and desktop environments through Android itself.

This would significantly broaden adoption and make privacy-focused AI truly accessible on mobile.

Thank you for your work and consideration.

That’s true, AnythingLLM looks quite flexible and it’s great to see tools already supporting Ollama.

That said, having an official Ollama Android app would really make a difference in terms of trust and brand strength. An app directly built and maintained by the Ollama team would reassure users about privacy, reliability, and long-term support, especially when dealing with local and cloud models.

It would also help create a more consistent and polished experience aligned with their vision, which is something third-party apps can’t fully replicate.

Currently I'm using Ollama on my Chromebook in the linux terminal. It would be nice to have it as an app so I can use it like I do on my Windows (where I use the gui sometimes and the cli other times).

Make sure the app is available for Chromebooks, because one of my pet peeves is a "mobile" app not available for Android on Chromebooks OR it has the window-lock set. For the window-lock apps, you can unlock the window size, but then sometimes the app will do funky things bc it doesn't know how to handle window size changes.

Works less often than you think it would, haha! Do you have a Chromebook?
