One of the most downloaded models in Ollama is nomic-embed-text, an embedding model. It has more than 10M downloads. However, it's a 10 month old model and newer version (from nomic and other teams) are already better in almost all the metrics.

Last month AnswerAI released ModernBERT and already has >4M downloads in HF. The nomic team has a version based on it too.

I think the community would benefit quite al lot from a newer embedding version in Ollama. Not sure if we can upload it ourselves or we need to ask the team for it.
