I am currently using resource syncs to config my komodo instance with GitOps and it would be nice to be able to bake in the Dockerfile used by a builder so that I don't have to double configure the same git repo which contains all of the configuration. Maybe something like the following would work?

[[build]]
name = "test_logger"
description = "Logs randomly at INFO, WARN, ERROR levels to test logging setups"
tags = ["test"]

[build.config]
type="static"
builder_id = "builder-01"
dockerfile = "..."

I'm currently working around this by doing something like the following:

[[build]]
name = "test_logger"
description = "Logs randomly at INFO, WARN, ERROR levels to test logging setups"
tags = ["test"]

[build.config]
builder_id = "builder-01"
repo = "some_dummy/repo"
pre_build.command = """
echo 'DOCKERFILE CONTENTS' > Dockerfile
"""

I'm working on it for 1.17.1. I realized the Dockerfile for Build can be managed just like the Stack compose file.

  1. It will support the same options to source the Dockerfile: UI defined, Files on Server, or Git Repo
  2. It will support in UI view and edit regardless of source:
  • The UI defined option will support file editor under Config tab
  • The Files on Server / Git repo will support File editor under Info tab
  1. UI defined option will support variable interpolation into Dockerfile

This is now available in 1.17.1: https://github.com/moghtech/komodo/releases/tag/v1.17.1
