Margin Figure Visual Audit
Date: 2026-06-02
Scope: initial visual pass over the 212 SVG margin figures referenced in QMD
.column-margin blocks at the time of this audit.
Checks performed: rendered all 212 referenced SVG margin figures into focused contact sheets, inspected for text/rule collisions and clipped labels, verified no missing assets, and verified no live SVG <text>, font-family, or font-size residue.
Summary: 44 figures needed source-level fixes or were regenerated by the source-level label placement rules; 168 figures were OK as rendered. All 212 are OK after the final render pass.
Addendum: the caption/device pass later added four strict kit-native figures,
bringing the current referenced margin SVG count to 216. See
book/tools/audit/margin_figure_caption_device_audit.md for the current
caption/device audit and new-figure decision record.
