Chapter 16 - Sustainable AI

  • We felt like we got all Learning Objectives for this chapter.
  • We thought this chapter did a great job emphasizes the importance of the subject material, and had a clear format and structure
  • This chapter all saw a tonal shift -- it had a more dramatic flair and included things like exclamation points. This tone, in our opinion, is a lot easier for students to interact with, and we would love to see it incorporated in other points in the textbook.
  • We did think that the case studies were a bit too long (like 16.10 Case Study: Google's 4Ms); you could rework these by making them small "Example" sections and only included exactly relevant information. That being said, if you stick with Case Studies, their format/naming should be standardized (see feedback for Chapter 14, bullet point 5).
  • We found more than a few typos in this chapter. As always, they have been marked in the attached PDF below.
  • There were no images/tables to break up text from 16.5 Beyond Carbon Footprint all the way to around 16.10 Case Study: Google's 4Ms. We recommend including more visualizations to keep readers' interest.
