bug description

When downloading certain videos, the download stops a second after it starts. This seems to be consistent with certain channels, for example, any videos that I try downloading from the SpongeBob SquarePants Official (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCx27Pkk8plpiosF14qXq-VA) channel will fail. Likewise with other channels.

Actually, testing it now, ANY video I tried downloading (from many different channels) gets this issue.

seems like it only happens only when the hls option is enabled, try turning it off: https://cobalt.tools/settings/video#youtube-hls

Without HLS the download doesn't work though, keeps on pausing and restarting and ends with "Network Error".

Same issue here, except on my side, cobalt downloads a 0 B file.

obfuscated

This behaviour is akin to #816.

I affirm this only happens with HLS format.

Video: Sullivan King - Venomous (feat. Spencer Charnas of Ice Nine Kills) [Lyric Video]

The "Network Error"/"Failed" issue without HLS only occurs to me on longer videos, ex. ROBLOX_OOF.mp3 getting cut off after 23:22 (full length 1:57:48). Probably subject of #647.

Gecko/Firefox-based browser, Fedora Linux 39.

Seems to have worked for H.265; VP9 is still broken, downloading empty files.

I was able to get some downloads ~hour ago, now I am getting <5 KB/s downloads speeds for some reason. Could be high traffic on main instance or something. Nevermind, all works well now for me. Thank you for fixing the issue!

Apologies, I meant H.264. I was talking about this option:
