bug description

When I try to download something from Reddit, it doesn't work and says it doesn't recognize the link. I'm copying the link directly from the Reddit post. I have tested it with images, videos, gifs, posts with links, and posts that are completely text, and they have all had the same result. I tried downloading something on another app and it worked fine.

reproduction steps

  1. Open the Reddit app
  2. Click on a post (probably with media (an image, a video, a gif))
  3. Click on the 3 dots at the top-right of the screen
4. Click on the 3 dots in the post sharing options
  5. Click "Copy Link"
  6. Open the cobalt app
  7. Paste the link into the box in the "save" tab
  8. Wait for cloudflare turnstile to finish checking
  9. Press the ">>" button to download the media in the post

screenshots

Image

(any post formatted like that does the same thing)

platform information

Pixel 6 Android 15 on the cobalt app 10.5

additional context

When I discovered this, I was trying to download a gif since those aren't downloadable on Reddit.

Edit: GIFs and videos work

I tried doing it again, and the post (link from the bug report) has a single image in it, but it still didn't work. The message that came up changed though. I don't know much about GitHub as I only made an account to report this, so I'm not sure if closing this as completed means that the bug should be fixed.

I just put the link in for a post with a video and a post with a gif and it actually worked with those. I'm not sure if images are supposed to work with cobalt though.

glad it works now :)

cobalt doesn't support downloading images from reddit yet, but if you want this feature, please make a feature request issue with several sample links (one media, multiple media, mixed media, etc)
