The video that cobalt downloads has a lower bitrate and lower quality than what other alternatives and what TikTok shows in the app. It's still HEVC 1080p60, but a lower-quality one.

musicaldown.com gives a high bitrate one most of the time, also with the 128kbit/s audio too (as opposed to Cobalts 64kbit/s). The download button in the context menu on the TikTok video website however always gives the highest, with no watermark too.

And the one TikTok downloads on the web version

The quality difference is very noticeable to me, especially on dark or gradient areas

Looks like TikTok removed that behavior, but still using that same method at the time I was able to download a 80Mbit/s 4K video, cobalt only gave me a 1080p one, much lower bitrate

Could you check H265 downloads too?

I did, both of those videos are H265 videos

Looks like they brought it back for some reason, downloads with no file extension tho, its .mp4. Interestingly, it only does that if you go the video not directly, otherwise it downloads a watermarked version

They have patched it completely :( The other site I mentioned does work on most but not all videos
