Would it be great to have a Standard in the TUI, most of them are reinventing the user experience, like key combinations and shortcuts. What if, the TUI follows the same standard and uses a common key combination?
Ex:
In some TUIs, I have found the ':' as a command execution like in vi, k9s, epiq...
'/' could be for searching
Navigating between sections must be the same if the TUI follows this standard
Pros:
Ramp-up will be easier, and people will be more efficient.
Frameworks can emerge and provide a pre-defined key combination and shortcuts that all applications can hook into
Terminal will have better compatibility (shortcut and key combinations overlap, possible issue)
Cons
People who used to work with some shortcuts in an app will have to change their habits
The Code of the TUI will have to change
Consensus will be difficult to get.
How can it be called?
TISUS -> Terminal Interface Standard Unified Shortcuts
Just dropping a thought, maybe more clever people already discussed that :)
