Why is it awesome?

BlackRoad OS runs 52 TOPS of edge AI inference across a Raspberry Pi 5 cluster with dual Hailo-8 M.2 accelerators. It features WireGuard mesh networking, fleet-wide self-healing automation (auto-restart services, power optimization, health monitoring), 16 Ollama models, custom DNS zones, and manages 5 Pi nodes with zero manual intervention. The entire fleet monitors itself via cron-driven heartbeats and auto-remediation scripts.

Have you used it? For how long?

Yes, it is our own project. It has been in active development and production use for over a year, managing a 5-node Raspberry Pi cluster 24/7.

Is this in a personal or professional setup?

Both — it started as a personal homelab project and has grown into a production edge AI infrastructure.

How many devices/users/services/... do you manage with it?

5 Raspberry Pi 5 nodes, 2 DigitalOcean droplets, 200+ services, 95+ Cloudflare Pages sites, 48+ custom domains, 18 tunnels, 207 Gitea repositories.

Biggest pros/cons compared to other solutions?

Pros: Purpose-built for Raspberry Pi clusters with Hailo-8 AI accelerators, extremely lightweight (400+ shell scripts, no heavy frameworks), self-healing with no dependencies on cloud services. Cons: Currently tightly coupled to our specific hardware setup, documentation is evolving.
