Warning: Shameless self-promotion, as I wrote this one -- merge only if you think it's helpful! (It's a recently expanded Github version of some fairly popular answers from Quora.)

Part of my suggesting it is that it may actually be worth perusing this doc for further additions to awesome-shell as well. I actually think the two complement each other pretty nicely, as awesome-shell covers more novel, specific tools and fancy customizations, and TAOCL has the classic commands and tips everyone should know.
