What is this Python project?

You construct styled strings as DAG of RichStr objects, then the object can be transformed into a sequence of ECMA control codes giving the needed visual effect.

What's the difference between this Python project and similar ones

1 I'm not aware of any Python lib doing exactly this, so had to implement.
2 The nearest similar is curses, but curses is drawing-GUI-oriented, not text output.
