📄 Description

What this adds

API Workbench is a VS Code extension for local-first API testing, placed in the IDE Integration section after Thunder Client.

Why it fits this list

  • Open source (MIT license), free core functionality
  • Local-first: collections and environments stored as plain JSON files — no account, no cloud sync required
  • VS Code native: works inside Cursor, Windsurf, and VS Code (Open VSX distribution)
  • Agent-readable reports: test results export as structured Markdown and JSON so AI coding assistants can read output and act on failures directly in the chat — differentiator over REST Client and Thunder Client
  • MCP layer: built-in Model Context Protocol support for CI-compatible output

Addresses the "VS Code extension" category explicitly called out in the list's introduction and FAQ ("For seamless VS Code integration, VS Code REST Client or Thunder Client are often preferred") with a third option that adds agent-readable output for the growing agentic IDE segment.
