📄 Description

I think it merits mentioning this. It's ~400 pages, covering both the Enigma machine, RSA (and the history of its discovery), Diffie-Hellman, and the future of cryptography: quantum cryptography.

The cipher challenges are discussed at https://simonsingh.net/cryptography/cipher-challenge/

It can be read by people without a heavy mathematical background, and the mathematics for RSA is discussed in an appendix.
