Steps To Reproduce

  1. Install App/ Open App
  2. Enter in Email address (Example.Email+bitwarden-01/01/20@outlook.com)
  3. Click Continue

Expected Result

Asks for password then triggers 2fa.

Actual Result

App crashes to home, sometime triggers popup box with option (App info/ Close app). It does seem to remember the email toggle. Clicking continue crashes the app guaranteed.

I had this issue on a Moto Edge + 2023 Android 14 (which I didn't like), and now an HMD Skyline Android 15.

As a note I wanted to see if the same issue occurred with the device I was already logged into. OnePlus 9 Android 14. I logged out of the app then the same issue occurs when trying to log back into app.

Did you try with the email format provided in the initial example? Cause I can reproduce this issue on 4 devices now. So, I think it maybe my email format.

Hey jtodddd I think this might also be affecting the contact support option. I send a request after your earlier post and have yet to receive a response to the request for verification. I was able to use the same email causing login issues with the app to login to website on desktop and the community portal on desktop.

With #4945 the application will no longer crash, but / in the email address will still trigger an invalid email warning. This new issue is tracked and will be addressed in an upcoming release.

Just to clarify it triggering an invalid email warning means I still will not be able to log in on the mobile app.

We've made some updates to both navigation and email validation. Theses changes will be available in an upcoming release and should allow email addresses with a forward slash before the at symbol to be used within the app.
