Steps To Reproduce

  1. Open the Bitwarden app (v2025.6.1) and log in.
  2. Set the app theme to Dark in settings.
  3. Both the Android status and navigation bars turn completely white, which then hide all the system status and navigation icons.

Expected Result

That both the status and navigation bars be dark.

Actual Result

Both the Android status and navigation bars turn completely white, which then hide all the system status and navigation icons.

Additional Context

Wasn't an issue with v2025.5.0. The bug only appeared after updating to v2025.6.1. Nothing has changed on my device, no system updates, changes to settings etc.

  • Device: Motorola Moto G54 5G
  • OS Version: Android 15 (Hello UI), API 35 - Vanilla Ice Cream

This is caused by a known OS bug that should have been fixed or will be fixed on a future OS release. Make sure to have your OS updated.

Some of the reports on https://github.com/bitwarden/android/issues/4377 seem to be be caused by this although the original issue is not.

Unfortunately the required changes to resolve this UI bug caused Autofill to no longer work on the affected devices.

We were forced to roll-back part of the changes. There will still be some glitches in the system bars:

  • The bars will have the wrong color when using dynamic colors
  • The bars will not update dynamically when the user change themes while the UI is active
