Original GitHub issue: https://github.com/bitwarden/android/issues/5443

Steps To Reproduce

We have only a design choice for
– Standard (System)
– Dark
– Bright

Expected Result

But “Dark” is more a „Grey”, not really beautiful and less energy efficient as black.

Actual Result

To the responsible Bitwerden developers:
Please, give us the real AMOLED-friendly and beautiful black mode back!

Please also note that the European Commission is introducing new guidelines this year to support people with physical disabilities and that websites and apps must therefore be designed to be accessible to people with disabilities.
A real dark mode offers better colour contrast and thus improves readability.

And it is a bug, when the Bitwarden app isn't so energy-efficient as it could be…

Perhaps a duplicate of https://github.com/bitwarden/android/issues/4429

And if I I didn't mix something up, I think with the new "dynamic color" setting for Android, a "true black" is possible: https://bitwarden.com/blog/show-your-true-colors-in-the-bitwarden-android-app/

Duplicate: You can see it that way, but if a dark mode does not really use the deep black of AMOLED, but remains in the light grey to dark grey range, this is actually a bug.

Thank you for the link, but it doesn't work with my Pixel phones with GrapheneOS.
And why it must be so complicated? Other apps not only from big institutions or companies use the same modern programming languages and you can switch directly to real dark mode in their apps.

Hello @bub0-bub0,

Thank you for your input. Currently, the native Bitwarden client on Android offers two themes; I understand that you're looking for a dark theme that's completely black, possibly similar to what was available in the older Xamarin-based mobile clients, and this would be considered a feature request/improvement suggestion; with that in mind, please feel free to submit this idea in the Feature Requests section of the Bitwarden Community Forums.

You can sign up on the Bitwarden Community Forums and search for this idea, just in case a similar request already exists. If you find one, you can vote for it and contribute to any discussions about it; If not, you can submit this idea as a new request there so that it can be properly tracked.

Because we used GitHub to track unexpected behaviour and other development related issues, this report will now be closed. Please note that the “Closed as not planned” status is for internal tracking purposes only; do not hesitate to submit your suggestion to in the Community Forums.

Thank you again,
