Steps To Reproduce

In Firefox go to

  1. Extentions
  2. Extentions Manager
  3. Add Bitwarden Password Manager
  4. After Install, open

Expected Result

To see the GUI with all buttons on the right side and be to able to click on them.

Actual Result

The right side of the GUI is cut off and unavailable. The screenshot shows just the splash screen after a fresh install. Logged in, all the important buttons are absent, the GUI is not usable this way as it can't be operated. This came at least with the latest update.

Another user here.

Using the browser extensions on mobile (!) browsers is not supported by Bitwarden.

You should use the mobile app instead.

PS: And it's a duplicate of https://github.com/bitwarden/clients/issues/18473

Hello,

It is important to note that Vaultwarden is not associated with Bitwarden. Vaultwarden is a re-writing of the Bitwarden server code in Rust (n.b. Vaultwarden is NOT a fork of Bitwarden), that is not contributed to nor supported by the Bitwarden team or organization. The security audits granted to Bitwarden do not apply to Vaultwarden, and the Bitwarden support team is not able to respond to questions regarding Vaultwarden. Support options for Vaultwarden are found here:
https://github.com/dani-garcia/vaultwarden?tab=readme-ov-file#get-in-touch

Bitwarden also offers a self-hosted option, with multiple deployment options, including for air-gapped deployments. You can find information on Bitwarden’s deployment options here:
https://bitwarden.com/help/install-on-premise-linux/
https://bitwarden.com/help/install-and-deploy-offline/

If you would like to know more about a Bitwarden self-hosted setup, I will happily put you in touch with our Sales Team, who will be able to provide you with a trial license. You can also initiate this yourself here:
https://bitwarden.com/help/enterprise-free-trial/

This issue will now be closed.

Thank you for your responses.
Seems the combo of Bitwarden client and Vaulwarden server worked for a while, but this has come to an end.
However, what an irritating situation that the Bitwarden FF-extension is not from Bitwarden.

I am aware of all that now and will do accordingly.
Thanks.

Given you didn't install an "impostor", it is from Bitwarden. But it's only meant to be used on desktop browsers (and not on mobile browsers).

@pamperer562580892423
I was under the impression that a FF-mobile browser for Android with the built-in option to manage extensions, considers only those working in this environment.
For example, I cannot find extensions in there which I use on my desktop version. I concluded these are two different things and other extensions installed from there do work without any issue.
So, this is a wrong pick from Mozilla to offer this not officially supported extension for mobile devices then?

@gitnick023 As only another user, I can only speculate about this... my own impression always was, that though Bitwarden doesn't officially support usage of the browser extensions on Android/iOS, Bitwarden also didn't want to restrict it for those who want to do that at their own risk.
