Seems to be happening to me quite a bit as well. Interestingly, if the vault is locked and you unlock it, after performing auto fill my inline bitwarden icon still says locked though it isn't.

Hi there!

Thank you for your report. Due to recent changes from the Android team, Chromium browsers now require you to choose between using Chrome/Brave autofill or by using another service (like Bitwarden).

Chromium Browser autofill:

  1. Ensure Chrome/Brave and Bitwarden are updated

  2. In Bitwarden, visit Settings > Autofill > use Chrome/Brave Autofill integration > Autofill using another service

  3. Select the restart Chrome/Brave button

Android Device autofill:

  1. In Bitwarden, visit Settings > Autofill > Autofill services > choose Bitwarden as your preferred service for passwords, passkeys, & autofill

  2. Choose between inline or popup

Troubleshooting:

If you previously changed any browser autofill feature flags, you may need to reset them now to prevent autofill from breaking with the Chrome autofill framework.

-You may need to disable/re-enable settings

-You may need to uninstall, power cycle your device, and then reinstall the app

I've tried toggling quite a few times previously and the issue sometimes temporarily resolve but come back. I've tried resetting feature flags to default (don't think I had any enabled) and retoggled autofill setting. Will monitor and write support if the issue persists.

Happens a lot to me, too. Sometimes clicking on password first and then username helps to get autofill to work as intended.

Hello @cbbit, why are reports like this being closed as user error??

Even with the new "Use Chrome autofill integration" option properly enabled, making sure there are no conflicting settings and toggling the feature off and on again, the Autofill behavior still stops working constantly.

When this happens the Autofill bar shows, the account selection shows, but tapping the account doesn't populate the username and password fields at all.

The only workaround for this is Force closing either the Bitwarden app or the Browser. After that it immediately starts working again.

This should be Reopened and addressed properly!

I entered a support ticket and they stated engineering is aware of the issue... But it definitely feels like the issue shouldn't be closed here.

They just released the v2025.9.0 that has this changelog:

  • Fixed an issue where autofill logins could disappear.
