Steps To Reproduce

  1. Download Bitwarden and authenticator, log in bitwarden account.
  2. Click on 'Settings', click 'Acount security', and set authenticator sync on
  3. Create a test item in bitwarden with TOTP secret using Steam style.
  4. Open auth app, can find this item's username not shown

Expected Result

The item with Steam style TOTP 's username can be correctly shown in authenticator app.

Actual Result

The item's name isn't shown.

Could you copy & paste in here the details of your BW password manager app (Settings --> About --> Version)?

And when you enter "Edit mode" for your TOTP seed code, does that TOTP seed code string contain "--" as a component for your username?

ou, my steam style secret code is like this “steam://helloworld”, it doesnt contain a username, because my some other TOTP secret code only contain secret could show item name. How can I add name component in the url to test this issue?

Updates have been made here to better support theses types of TOTP codes in the Sync functionality.

Important to note that you will need to have updated both the Password Manager and Authenticator to the appropriate version in order for these changes to function properly.

These changes will roll out to production in the next few weeks.

@yjdyamv The fix was merged on Mar 25, and seems to not be included in authenticator app 2026.3.1 (as you can see via this comparison).
