Pitch: what problem are you trying to solve?

Hi team,

I’d like to request support for using Microsoft SQL Server as the database instead of the default SQLite.

Currently, Actual uses SQLite, but I need to switch to SQL Server because all my other applications already use it. Having the same database engine would make integration, backup, and data management much easier.

I’m not sure how to configure or modify Actual to use SQL Server — is there any guidance or plan to support this database option?

Request summary:

Add support or configuration option for SQL Server as a database backend.

Optionally, provide migration steps or tools to move existing SQLite data to SQL Server.

Environment

Version: v25.10.0

Platform: Windows 10 / Node.js environment

Reason
I’d like to use the same database (SQL Server) already used by my other applications for better integration, maintenance, and scalability.
