Pitch: what problem are you trying to solve?

I would like Actual to estimate predicted interest for my savings accounts for me. This will help me in planning what my future income will be.

Describe your ideal solution to this problem

Ideally:

  • A field for interest rate for each savings account. As this is variable, it should be time bound (i.e. applies from X date to Y date or, if not specified, today).
  • A field to specify interest payment schedule
  • A calculation based on either the current balance of what the future payments would be (these could be post-dated transactions) or which take into account future payments schedules into that account.
  • The ability to create a custom report for future interest payments.

Teaching and learning

This could be helpfully discoverable by interest rate being an optional field when creating a new account.

A new page in the documentation to explain the feature and how it works would be helpful.
