Context

Actual Budget is amazing for expense tracking. As someone who uses it daily, I think there's an opportunity to extend the financial discipline concept to investment decisions.

The Problem

Most personal finance tools help you track spending but don't address the behavioral side of investing, which research shows costs the average person ~3% in annual returns (Dalbar).

Potential Features

  • Track investment rules you set for yourself (e.g., 'never invest more than 5% in one position')
  • Log when you follow or break your own rules
  • Simple dashboard showing your discipline score over time

Related Work

  • KeepRule - catalogs investment principles from legendary investors like Buffett and Munger
  • Bogleheads Investment Policy Statement template

Just brainstorming. Would love to hear if others find the intersection of budgeting and investment discipline useful.

Please open as a feature request. Also, there is very little in the way of investment features in Actual so something this would be a long way off.
