💻

  • Would you like to implement this feature?

Pitch: what problem are you trying to solve?

When using the tracking budget mode, it would be great to be able to sum and perform other "show as" functions on budgeted amounts on the existing summary card (rather than only actual income or expenditures). I also described similar feedback under the new formula-cards here: https://github.com/actualbudget/actual/issues/5949#issuecomment-3894685399

For users not using the envelope budgeting mode, this would be great for long-term planning to be able to use summary cards to sum budgeted amounts for planning purposes. For example, after entering my budgeted amounts for each month of 2026, I could use a sum budget function to find out my annual budget for shopping. In combination with the existing summary card of year-to-date expenses for shopping, I can find out what percentage I have spent of my total annual budget (rather than just my monthly budget). If I were go over or under a particular month, I could adjust other months to stay within my annual budget.

Currently, I have to manually use a text card to list my annual budget and manually make adjustments if my budget changes.
