Verified feature request does not already exist?

  • I have searched and found no existing issue

💻

  • Would you like to implement this feature?

Pitch: what problem are you trying to solve?

The incredible feature recently added in 2026.02 release (https://github.com/actualbudget/actual/pull/6411) added multiple report 'boards' to a report. The initial concept in the PR showed clean way to add and navigate between purpose-built reports via a tabulation system

Since its initial conception, that has changed into a dropdown

Describe your ideal solution to this problem

I would propose that it be reverted back to a tabular system for a few reasons:

  1. Easier navigation between tabs: Dropdowns introduce more clickops than tabs introduce. It makes navigating easier
  2. Open Information: Actual is an 'information dense' application, and I love it. Hiding information from the user behind a dropdown (what reports are available to view) is an antipattern in UX (in my opinion), and being able to see everything available to me as the viewer makes for a more enjoyable experience.
  3. Its more familiar to data people: This is just a small thing, but it creates a sense of familiarity to any user who has ever used excel. Paginated reports where you can quickly flip through all available reports makes for a much better UX than dropdowns.
