Verified feature request does not already exist?

  • I have searched and found no existing issue

💻

  • Would you like to implement this feature?

Pitch: what problem are you trying to solve?

In an envelope/category system, I regularly budget a fixed amount each month (e.g. 100 EUR). After three months, the category has 300 EUR available. If I then create a transaction of 350 EUR, the category shows a balance of -50 EUR.

I would like to have a global setting that automatically carries this negative balance into the next month’s budgeting cycle. In this example, when moving to the next month, the default budgeted amount should automatically be reduced by 50 EUR (so instead of budgeting 100 EUR, it would default to 50 EUR).

Currently, I have to manually adjust the next month’s budgeted amount (from 100 EUR to 50 EUR), which is easy to forget and tedious when this happens across multiple categories.

Describe your ideal solution to this problem
