Verified feature request does not already exist?

  • I have searched and found no existing issue

💻

  • Would you like to implement this feature?

Pitch: what problem are you trying to solve?

Ideally, reconciliation should happen without having to create a "fake" reconciliation transaction to make up for the difference.

Trying to find any errors or missing transactions on a long period of time quickly gets very hard, but it's a lot easier to do with time checkpoints: end of March bank statement is at 1984 EUR and Actual shows the same balance at that date, great.

If one could reconcile up to a given date, it would make it a lot easier to do "checkpoint" reconciliation.

Of course, reconciling should happen often, but if you are starting a new account and importing historical data, this would be very helpful.

Describe your ideal solution to this problem

Instead of reconciling to now, allow users to reconcile to a given date.

Teaching and learning

When clicking reconcile, simply offer "Reconcile to now" by default and offer as secondary option "Reconcile to date"
