Pitch: what problem are you trying to solve?

Summary
When users attempt to add an account through one of the supported sync providers, it’s easy to forget that the initial linking must be completed on the provider’s website first before Actual can show the account as ready to sync.

Problem
The current “Add Account” flow doesn’t remind the user of this prerequisite, which can lead to confusion when no search option appears for finding or linking a bank. While experienced users might recall this step, it’s an easy “brain-fart” moment that can make onboarding or troubleshooting unnecessarily frustrating.

Proposed Solution
Add a short reminder message (with a link to documentation or the provider’s setup page) in the UI when selecting a sync provider—for example:

“Reminder: You must first link your bank account through [ProviderName]’s website before it will appear here for syncing. Learn more
”

Benefits

Reduces user confusion during initial setup

Improves first-time experience with sync providers

Low implementation effort (simple text addition or conditional hint)

Environment
Applies to all sync providers currently supported
