Pitch: what problem are you trying to solve?
Merging duplicates is only supported for transactions with exactly the same amount. There are instances where one might enter transactions only to have the amount slightly when importing the bank statement later, like foreign currency or buying stock.
Describe your ideal solution to this problem
One should be able to manually merge transactions with only similar amounts, and the imported amount should be the amount of the resulting transaction (like it's handled with dates already).
