  • Would you like to implement this feature?

Pitch: what problem are you trying to solve?

The "Average" option for the Monthly Spending graph shows the current month's cumulative day-to-day spending tracked against an average of the same data for the previous 3 months. For obvious reasons, it's only selectable if there are a previous 3 months of data.

For me, this is slightly misleading because many of my expenses are billed in yearly cycles - which I think is probably quite common. The last 3 months are not necessarily representative; using the average of the last 12 months would give me a better picture of how close my spending is to "normal".

Describe your ideal solution to this problem

The simplest option that would solve my problem would be just be to add an extra option for a 12-month average. Naturally, this would only be selectable if there were 12 months of previous data.

I imagine other people probably have use-cases for other timescales, though I can't think of one. (Admittedly, I struggle to think of a use-case for the 3-month average, too.) In that case a separate field for the length of the rolling average might be preferable, although that seems significantly more complicated to implement.
